How you can help
If you have purchased a usmooth.eco styling tool to replace another tool that no longer works, we will cover the shipping cost for you to send in the old tool to be recycled. This styling tool can be from any brand, as long as it is being replaced by a usmooth.eco tool.
What is veritree?
veritree is a data-driven, restorative platform that connects nature-based solutions with mission-driven companies ready to lead the restorative economy. With on-the-ground monitoring and blockchain verification, veritree improves transparency and trust through data and tools that revitalize ecosystems, strengthen communities, and build climate solutions.
veritree offers a wide range of climate and nature solutions. Each of their projects (below) is selected and evaluated based on 10 different positive impact criteria. Click here to see full list of projects.
In Montana, United States, veritree is helping to restore an area of forest that was destroyed by a wildfire. This project supports vital hunting and fishing grounds for the Northern Cheynne Tribes by restoring prime habitats for local wildlife.
In British Columbia, Canada, veritree has partnered with Ocean Wise to restore kelp forests. The restored habitats are crucial to local species and biodiversity.
In Nandi, Kenya, veritree is restoring Old Bonjoge Forest to provide the people of Kisumu City with clean air and water by planning indigenous trees, including fruit and bamboo trees. This will contribute to food security, income sources, and natural regeneration.
Why is reforestation important?
Forests are home to more than 80% of the world’s plant, animal, and insect natural habitats
Since 1990, we have lost nearly 1 billion acres of forests
Deforestation reduces biodiversity, affects soil and water quality, impacts wildlife habitat and influences climate change.
Forest restoration, when implemented appropriately, helps restore habitats and ecosystems, create jobs and income and is an effective nature-based solution to climate change.
Last year, the world lost 11.1 million hectares of tree cover in the tropics.
Around 17% of the Amazonian rainforest has been destroyed over the last half century.
Wildfire accounts for more than 80% of the U.S. reforestation needs according to the US Department of Agriculture.
Currently, the USDA only addresses 6% of post-wildfire replanting needs per year.
